Mary Ellen Croteau is a Chicago-based artist who currently uses non-recycled plastic waste to show the huge amounts of garbage we are consuming and sending into the environment.
The plastic caps she uses in her art pieces are made from petroleum. This type of plastic doesn’t decompose and recycling is costly. Croteau asks her family and friends to help by collecting their caps for the projects, which makes them think about how much plastic they are consuming.
