Mike Brodie spent 5 years as a train hopper and documented his entire experience in photos , his story begins in 2002 at the age of 17 when he left home unannounced with just a bag on his back . ” Two weeks later i was gone – this was it . I was riding my very first freight train ” from 2004 to 2009 Brodie has managed to ride more than 50,000 miles across 46 states while he documented everyone he encountered along the way with his Polaroid camera . Brodie who is also known as The Polaroid Kid published a book of his pictures called ” A Period of Juvenile Prosperity ” the book shows the lives of a subculture of fright train hoppers and squatters . ” I know almost everyone i shoot ” Brodie says , ” Three of the women in the book are ex-girlfriends and a couple of the guys…are best friends ” Below are just some of his amazing experiences. via
