If you think about beehives and honey collection you automatically picture guys covered head-to-toe in protective gear pulling honey frames from wooden boxes while occasionally blowing some smoke into the beehive. If that’s what you were thinking, you wouldn’t be wrong, as that’s about how they’ve been doing it for the last couple of hundred years.
That’s up until now, after two Australian beekeepers invented a new “gravity powered” beehive called the the Flowhive, which automatically siphons honey from the beehive without disturbing the bees. This doesn’t mean much for the average Joe, but it’s a revolutionary product in the honey industry and also happens to look pretty cool. via
